18 Months for Stealing Gold

At the Criminal Court in Pointe a Pitre (March 30th 2017), 18  year old Michael Lewis, A Dominican delinquent explains to the court why he came to Guadeloupe.  "It is easier to rob people here and get away as no one knows you," he replied to the Prosecuting Attorney.

"No, that's not the reason you came to Guadeloupe," the Prosecuting Attorney walked closer to him, "it is because you know that the condition of the prison here in Guadeloupe is much better than in Dominica."

Michael Lewis was caught on the 23rd March 2017 by the Police after robbing Pedestrians on the street of their jewelry.  The delinquent was in a gang of four (4) on scooters armed with knives, the other three (3) Dominican robbers in the gang escaped and are wanted by the Police.

The victims of the robbery  valued their stolen jewelry at one thousand Euros, however Michael Lewis said that he only got one hundred and fifty Euros for the items at the gold Pawn store.

The Prosecuting Attorney insisted on a three year imprisonment for Dominican Michael Lewis, but as this was his first encounter with the Law, the Judge in leniency gave him an eighteen month sentence.

  1. Very interesting. Guadeloupe has the opportunity and Dominica is the hideout. But if you get caught it is better to serve time in Guadeloupe. Officials need to close that gap. Still we need to know the actual crime figures in Guadeloupe and what percentage of the crimes are done by Kinkin...
