The St kitts and Nevis police Department in an effort to eradicate shootings has started conducting random searches of Homes and Vehicles. In an on-going clean-up for weapons of mass destruction 8 persons have already been arrested this week.
A number of illegal firearms have been confiscated since May 8th, 2017 including one smith and Wesson , a 40 millimeter pistol with a magazine and nine rounds of ammunition. Also seized in a subsequent search was another magazine and four rounds of ammunition, a number of '20' rounds for shotguns, A bulletproof vest, two masks and camouflage Army Clothing.
Searches also done in Conaree netted a firearm, a magazine and one kilo of Marijuana.
The police Commissioner commended the officers involved and the vigilance in which they followed every lead to get these weapons of the streets, A job well done and the collaboration of the other lawmen of St kitts worked well together, a strategy that they must continue.
