Departure Lounge at Douglas-Charles Airport |
Fear was sparked this morning, May 4th 2017 as the Security Officers in Dominica’s Douglas-Charles Airport seized five cigarette lighters from a heavily bearded, middle eastern man and his female companion.
The very ethnic looking traveler had a cynical smirk on his face as he said, "this is ridiculous, I don't want to buy a lighter in every country that I go."
"It is a security threat," said the professional security officer as she was relentless in searching the carry-on,"I know some people don't like it , that we search luggage, but this has to be done."
The status of quo of current air travel strips one naked and depilated if necessary as if it is a fraternity to join some tightly refrained club in the air which membership lasts only the duration of the flight.
Cigarette Lighters are banned on planes due to the high level of terrorist activity on commercial flights world wide. Any lighter whatsoever is not allowed, not even in Checked luggage.
Air travelers can carry a gun in the checked luggage, and ammunition for it, but a 79 cents lighter is a security threat as this could possibly burn down the plane.
