Basseterre Assize Court |
Yannick Joseph of Bagatelle, have been given 20 years in prison. Yannick Joseph pleaded not guilty to all the charges, and his only crime was to accompany his friend to gun down an enemy. This made him an accomplice. The prosecuting Attorney, Albert Cantinol insisted that an accomplice is required to have the same penalty as the guilty perpetrator, "...on the gravity of the facts and the fierceness of the two co-defendants (Martin and Joseph), in no way could one speak of legitimate defense in view of the dramatic and appalling circumstances in which the victim had been slaughtered. Even if he (Joseph) had not fired," Attorney Albert Cantinol stated, "leaving Martin with this responsibility, the mere fact that Joseph had become an accomplice in such acts must lead him to assume and be equally responsible with the murder of Christopher Nestor. A murder supported by premeditation."
Michael Bunche- Dominican
Michael Brunche, the friend of the victim who was indicted since October 16th, 2015 for violence with a firearm could not be prosecuted for acts he had not committed the day of the murder. He therefore was acquitted of all charges. He has been deemed a free man.
