Roseau Dominica|May 26th, 2017 Prime Minister Roosevelt Skeritt was asked to take his seat by the speaker of the house of assembly Honorable Alix Boyd Knight in order to allow the house member for the Roseau Central constituency Honorable Joseph Isaac to speak, as he had not yet spoken in parliament under its current sitting.
May 29th, Ministry after Rioting |
Mr Roosevelt Skerrit addressed the nation one day ago (25th may 2017) in a press conference and stated that he will not be pursuing the amendment to the ‘corruption of elections act’ in the current sitting of the house of assembly. Every media house was invited at this conference journalist were instructed against posing questions.
Prime minister Skeritt hoped that he would have been able to address the house of assembly first this morning to proclaim his withdrawal of the amendments. A change which would likely serve as a loop hole to corrupting the election processes in Dominica.
This amendment of the Corruption in Elections act came on the heel of the anniversary of May 29th 1979 of the Roseau revolution in which riots took place and Mr. Philip Timothy lost his life and left several Dominicans injured.
