Hundreds of people converged in St Johns on the sunny afternoon of July 28th, 2017 hoping to get an insight as to what is in store for the sixtieth..birthday package of the twin island state premier festival. The carnival which is nicked- named "the summer greatest festival"  opening parade could not have been even saved by the fireworks display.
From about five o clock a marching band escorted by the police passed. At about 8 pm there was a traditional iron band from the Point community, it passed with a few persons dancing to the rhythm on the side walk. The iron band was the sole group  moving on Thames street. On St Mary's street was a platoon of drum majorites who were trying to figure the or way through the organised route however they had no music and was stuck in the vicinity of Harold-Lovell law offices for several hours.

Then came in four floats from a diffirent angle and since they were late and there was no direction they had to change route even the veteran Jaycees  Queen contestants did not escape the disorganized opening of Antigua sixtieth carnival street parade. The onlookers especially the Dominican community voiced that Miss Dominica ambassador Jade Romain had the national flag was tied at the back of her chair rather than having the flag of her native land in her hand waving off. The various pieces of what deemed part of the street parade left onlookers wondering "was there a street perade"? A spectacle of various musical artists was held at the Antigua recreation grounds that went pass midnight further plunging the opening of the Carnival as one of the worst in Carnival opening history. The Carnival had already been presumed dead with the Prime Minster's  input of the former Calypso Monarch Ivena. Calypso "nasty" edited followed by a poorly decorated cry with what deemed Homosexual colors which led to a senator calling for the Prime Ministers apology.  The prime minister was quoted in local news outlet that he will not apologise.
