In the heat of passion, at 1:00 O'clock, March 14th, 2017, a Gosier man dowsed his woman with gasoline and threw a lit lighter at her.
While his girlfriend and mother of 3 children (youngest is 6 years old) was screaming and being burnt he emptied the remaining tank of gasoline on himself and lit himself on fire in the house which was burnt down too. The couple both had a troubled relationship. The woman in subject was employed within the Guadeloupe Police Department and her spouse is a prison officer. The couple have both been declared dead by medical officials.
A fellow prison officer who is also a friend of the murderer/suicider told Dominican Overseas News the couple was separated and the murderer/suicider was on a 5 month suspended sentence. The charge was on domestic violence, as he used to beat his girlfriend regularly. During the suspended sentence, the couple reconciled. Family and friends were happy about their reconciliation as the couple portrayed the image of a happy family. "It is indeed a terrible shock to us all," the fellow prisoner officer said, "she dropped him of to work every day, so this event is quite unexpected."
